Altick & Corwin sadly announces the loss of our friend and partner, Robert (Nick) Farquhar, who lost his battle with cancer on Tuesday, April 22, 2008. Nick was a consummate professional and highly respected practitioner. As a shareholder in Altick & Corwin, Nick epitomized the ideals of the legal profession. Nick made significant contributions to the Dayton community. He served as trustee and was a past president of the Dayton Law Library; a past board member and president of Grace House Sexual Abuse Resource Center , a past board member and president of the Centerville Historical Society and a past Chairman of the Governing Board of Carillon Historical Park. Nick was also a past president of the Dayton Bar Association; the Board of Governors of the Ohio State Bar Association and served on its Council of Delegates, as well as being a past member & chairman of the Board of Commissioners on Character and Fitness of the Supreme Court of Ohio. Nick served four years as Chairman of the Legal Ethics and Professional Conduct Committee of the Ohio State Bar Association. Nick was also the Municipal Attorney for Centerville for 34 years, Law Director for the City of Oakwood for six years and former Secretary & Legal Counsel for the Miami Valley Conservancy District. Nick brightened the lives of everyone he met and he will be profoundly missed by his colleagues, clients and many friends. ------------------------------------------------------------- Mr. Farquhar concentrates his practice in the areas of local government, real estate, small business and appellate practice law. The public clients he provides services to include the Miami Conservancy District, the cities of Centerville and Oakwood, the Miami Valley Communications Councils and the Washington Centerville Public Library. In addition to his law practice, Mr. Farquhar is and has been engaged in many community activities. He serves as trustee and is a past president of the Dayton Law Library; a past board member and president of Grace House Sexual Abuse Resource Center and is a past board member and president of the Centerville Historical Society and is a Past Chairman of the Governing Board of Carillon Historical Park. He is a past president of the Dayton Bar Association; the Board of Governors of the Ohio State Bar Association and currently serves on its Council of Delegates. He is a past member & chairman of the Board of Commissioners on Character and Fitness of the Supreme Court of Ohio and served four years as Chairman of the Legal Ethics and Professional Conduct Committee of the Ohio State Bar Association.
