Limo safety concerns arise following motor vehicle accidents

Limousines are vehicles that people in the Dayton area generally use for special occasions. Whether it's for a wedding, prom or other special event, renting a limo is usually an exciting activity. Most of the time a ride in the limo is a safe experience, but recent tragic motor vehicle accidents that have involved limousines have put the spotlight on how safe they really are.

Stretch limousines are popular in the Dayton area. But there have been several recent accidents involving them that have claimed many lives all over the country. Dozens have been killed across the country, prompting a senator to ask the National Transportation Safety Board (NTSB) to make safety reforms for limousines a top priority. Senator Chuck Schumer believes there needs to be nationwide safety reforms and that limos have fallen between the cracks, because each state has different regulations regarding limos. The NTSB says they have made safety recommendations this year including advising riders to wear seatbelts. But, a limousine inspector in New York says that many times these vehicle manufacturers cut corners to make the vehicles look good at the expense of safety. He has seen many instances where supposed safety features don't do anything at all.

When a person rents a limousine the last thing they feel they should have to worry about is their safety. A limo renter should just be ready to have a good time celebrating with family and friends. If a person involved in a limo accident believes their injuries were the result of an unsafe vehicle, they may want to determine whether they can pursue a personal injury claim. Families affected by these tragedies deserve answers. Compensation may be available for medical expenses, pain and suffering, lost wages and other damages.

Riding in a limo is a special event for many Dayton area residents. It's something that a person only gets to do just a few times in their life. It is important that limo riders are safe and if an accident occurs they have the legal right to hold the negligent party responsible.
